CyberCIEGE is a hands-on virtual laboratory dealing with all aspects of Information Assurance (IA). Along with rigorous scientific foundations, it involves the application of abstract principles into the real world. For instance, we know that simple passwords can cause security problems, but with CyberCIEGE you get to see exactly what types of attacks could occur and as well as the damage.
CyberCIEGE includes all aspects of Information Assurance:
-Selecting and purchasing computer hardware
-Selecting and purchasing operating systems
-Selecting routers and firewalls
-Attaching components to networks
-Configuring components and operating systems
-Setting policies for components and users
-Setting physical security measures
-Providing training to users
-Running background checks on users
CyberCIEGE does this by packaging an information assurance laboratory as an interactive, entertaining, commercial-grade PC-based computer game where players construct and defend a networked computing system. Players will select information technology resources to meet explicit needs of virtual "users", and defend the resulting system from both vandals and professional attackers.
